It is about 11:45am in the city of Abuja  being 27th June 2023 as Igalas and Bassas speaking ethic groups of Kogi State took to major streets to protest against the ongoing killings in their lands.

In a protest that has been described by many as uprising against innocent killing in their lands, cross section of Nigerians who spoke with OurWorldGist asked the federal government ( FG ), to intervene immediately as such situation can result to war.

To one Mustapha I, who spoke bitterly whilst watching the people protest said: why is FG paying deaf ears to this ethnic cleansing or carnage?”

“I understand Igalas / Bassas are facing this situation today because they have resolved to vote for their candidate outside Governor Yahaya Bello ‘s choice candidate”.

” If Governor Yahaya Bello thinks his cousin, Ododo of APC is popular, why not wait and test his popularity at the poll rather than using security apparatus at his disposal against the people?”

” This is touching and dehumanizing from the videos and photos of people dying that I ‘m seeing on social media on this account “.

” President Bola Asiwaju Tinubu, should not copy his predecessor, Buhari who watched these people faced agony and pain under Governor Yahaya Bello’s led inhumane government”.

Meanwhile, Protesters who are currently protesting across the major streets in Abuja are carrying various placards such as: “Bello stop killing our young men because of Kogi Gubernatorial election slated for November 11th 2023”, “Young men missing over night because they are not supporting Bello’s canditate “, “Nigerians, come to our aid”, “Our Radio Station Vandalised because it airs against the killing”, “Civil servants and Pensioners are not paid because they are from Kogi East”, “Bello insulting us freely as if we are slave in our own land, “President Tinubu, why are you paying deaf ears to our cries?”, “Bello, stop this killing now”, “Stop illegal arrest in Kogi”, “The security apparatus in Kogi State have compromised”, Igala, Bassa, Okun used to be Brothers” … and alot more.

Recall, that under Governor Yahaya Bello’s led administration, alot of evils are happening in Igala /Bassa land , few, to include: Attack on SDP’s candidate,     Muri Ajaka with straight Bullet shoot at him in Lokoja, Vandaliztion of Ochaja’s Radio because the Radio aired against the killing in the land; Killing of one Okwo because he openly denounced that he was not supporting Governor Yahaya Bello’s cousin, Ododo as Governorship candidate; adoption of many young men in Dekina, Ankpa, Idah, Ibaji, Odolu and many more simply because their bodies language suggest they are not supporting Ododo amongst several others.

OurWorldGist will to keep you posted as the protest continues.
