Ordinarily, news of job creation should be a thing of jubilation and merriment in an Economy such like Nigeria that unemployment is a huge challenge.

However, reverse is the case as some Nigerian graduates have reacted angrily to the news of job creation by the  Federal Government of Nigeria & United Nations Development Programme

Why OurWorldGist seeks to know why this ugly reaction, it was uncovered that the concerned Nigerian Graduates are reacting as a result of stringent conditions attached to empowerment scheme of FG/UNDP.

These conditions state as follows:
“To be an eligible fellow, the applicant must be a Nigerian citizen and a fresh graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) from any discipline and graduate no earlier than 2017.

Applicants must graduate with at least a Second Class Lower (2.2) and above and must be at most 30 years old.

Applicants must not also be currently engaged in any employment and would have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or have a certificate of exemption.

Other requirements are: applicants must demonstrate interest/commitment in the chosen career field and also demonstrate interest/commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

Whom be applicants must also have excellent time management and a professional attitude and have good verbal and written communication skills, the criteria added”.

It is against the above conditions that some Nigerian graduates are reacting:
For example: Muhammed Isaq reacts: ” Federal government of Nigeria is not ready to address unemployment problem of Nigeria yet, else why stating those conditions? Does it mean that those who couldn’t graduate before they attain the age of 30 as a result of unending strike by ASUU are illegal Graduates or they are not Nigerians?”

Umar Bako says, “With those required conditions, does it mean that, those who graduated before 2017 with good results but couldn’t secure employment as a result of bad government or bad Economy in place are no longer worthy to be employed?”

Suleiman Mudi says: ” This government has demonstrated leadership docility as its lacks ideas on how to run the Economy ”

Sunday Ibrahim says: ” if you graduate and you are not lucky to get a job, you are expired graduate at the age of 30 according to this government, what a nonsense idea? What a failure ? What a directionless government we have?”…

Amongst other comments ourworldgist gathered from social media on the purported federal government / United Nations Development Programme job creation offer.

Recall that FG in partnership with UNDP has launched a portal to engage 20,000 Nigerian graduates though with some stringent conditions.
