FG Partners with UKOGA Media to Promote OHIOMA Film Premiering in Abuja and Lagos

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy, has pledged its support for the highly anticipated film OHIOMA.

The movie showcases the rich culture and traditions of the Igala and Idoma people of Kogi and Benue States, respectfully.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Mr. Fegho Umunubo, Special Assistant to the President in the Office of the Vice President on Digital and Creative Economy, praised OHIOMA as a meticulously crafted film by the talented filmmaker Thompson Makolo  Jr .

He highlighted the film’s high production quality and its cast of renowned Nollywood actors.

Mr. Umunubo emphasized that the sponsorship aligns with the government’s mission to boost opportunities in the creative industry, generate employment for youth, and promote Nigerian culture globally.

He described OHIOMA as a valuable cultural asset and a significant step in preserving indigenous heritage through cinema.

In response, the film’s producer, Thompson Makolo Jr., expressed deep gratitude to the Federal Government for its support.

He reaffirmed his dedication to promoting Nigeria and Africa positively through his creative works.

In a related development, the Igala community in Canada has shown support for the film by purchasing forty tickets for members of the public interested in attending the premieres.

According to the association’s president, Comrade Adigo Angela Achoba Omajali, OHIOMA has successfully spotlighted their cultural identity on the global stage.

OHIOMA (The Voice of Old) explores the enduring wisdom and traditions of the Igala and Idoma peoples.

It will premiere at Silverbird Cinema, beside YAR’ADUA Centre in Abuja on April 26, and at Ikeja City Mall, Lagos on May 3, 2025.

Produced by Thompson Makolo Jr. under UKOGA Media Production Ltd and directed by Aquila Njamah, the film features celebrated Nollywood stars including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Ugezu J. Ugezu, Emma Umeh, Don August, Adim Christian, Ajanigo Simeon, Righteous King, among others.

Touted as the most significant cultural export from Kogi State into Nollywood, the film reflects the depth of Nigeria’s cultural heritage and creative excellence.

Following the premieres, OHIOMA will embark on a royal and university tour to further engage audiences and deepen cultural appreciation nationwide.
