Over 80% potential passengers missed first train on Monday from Abuja to Rigasa, Kaduna due to poor management on the part of staff of Nigerian Railway Corporation.

Passengers who were denied access of using mobile app of the corporation since 16hour on 12th September till Monday morning hour of 13th September 2021 were also denied opportunity of making payment at Idu, Kubwa and Jere Stations simultaneously on the ground that the “Mobile App” for payment was down.

As a result, over 80% passengers scheduled for 7: 00am train all missed their train.

One of the insiders working with the corporation who pleaded for anonymity said “mobile App” breakdown was a calculated attempt by some saboteurs at the corporation to defraud the federal government of Nigeria of the ideal remittance adding that manual payment which was a traditional form of making payment to the corporation before the introduction of mobile app was a sure way of enriching some criminal elements within the system”

He added, “before the introduction of Mobile App early this year, the corporation was remitting about one hundred million Naira to the federal government as a monthly remittance but since the introduction of the Mobile App, the monthly remittance has now tripled ”

He therefore advised the government to resist any attempt to reintroduce “traditional form of payment ” at the corporation noting that mobile App has greatly improved the remittance and is a way to go.

Meanwhile, cross section of passengers who spoke with OurWorldGist  has expressed disappointment over train cancelation as the it is now the regular practice of the corporation.

They however called on the federal government to beem its searchlight on the corporation in order to ensure excellent service delivery and wage war against corruption.
