A new digital platform known as IGOTV.NG sets to be launched in order to address age long problem of ‘Status Discrimination’.
In a chat with Press Men, at Abuja on Tuesday morning, 9th December 2021, the initiator of the platform, Kogi State Born Nollywood Actor/Filmmaker, Thompson Makolo Jnr says, the introduction of this platform has become necessary in a view to showcase the identities of minority tribes whose firms have not been given audience on a big stage.
Mr Makolo Jnr further stresses that “new Digital Distribution Platform strictly for indigenous movies in Nigeria, Known as IGOTV.NG is a new innovation to address the many failures of INDIGENOUS Filmmakers and to create the indigenous Audience balance which is been denied by other Notable Platforms.
He reveals that, event which is expected to have both Founder, Co Founder, Elites, Influencers, Media Houses and industry players is slated for 19th December, 2021 by 4pm at the Silver bird Cinemas Abuja, Nigeria.
Makolo Jnr who shares his personal experience with press men says, “as an INDIGENOUS Filmmaker myself, I have experienced first hand hardship with distribution of my works, thereby denying me and many others of my Colleague revenue generation and thus making us look like beggars and stopping us from creating more Quality jobs”.
” The Challenge of an INDIGENOUS Filmmaker has not been lack of Capacity to tell a Local Story with good quality but has been getting a well told Local Story to the National and International Audience (Distribution)”.
He added that, in this innovation, “Its shall start with INDIGENOUS Igala movies, then expand to accommodate others from Kogi State, Middle belt and Nigeria as a whole”.
Meanwhile, with this development, it is expected that, the birth of this Platform shall scale up the Local industry in all areas of Quality, Job creation and revenue generation and most importantly, Audience Connect.
