” Youths are the leaders of tomorrow” has been an ingenious slogan used by old men in Nigerian politics to dismantle the youth prowessness and deny them the opportunity to utilize the leadership potentials in them.

Days have passed, months and years gone but we are yet to witness any tangible impact by the Youths in the leadership of our country though Nigeria is blessed with burgeoning Youths population.

However the youths in their own way have been waiting patiently for that very “tomorrow” to emerge but alas! Nigerian old generals keep recycling themselves in power till thy kingdom comes.

It is against this background that ourworldgist Correspondent, Ezema Chekwube S Peter Xtrays the ‘abridge profile of Honourable Peter Andy who within a limited time as Local Government Council Head has demonstrated leadership excellent.

Ezema Peter Sunday  writes thus:
“Comrade Peter Andy started his leadership journey early in life as the senior prefect of his secondary school then, BSS Ibagwa Aka, later as the SUG president of the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka and now as the Chairman of Igbo Eze South LGA Enugu State.

Honourable Peter Andy has proven to the world that the Youths if given opportunity have all it takes to take this country to it’s promise land.

Prior to his Emergence as the Chairman of Igbo Eze South, sharing of resources meant for projects among the old men and some party faithfuls without any tangible development were the order of the day.

But Peter Andy through his selfless services has changed the mantra and gives the youths a reason to partake in running the affairs of their environment through Youths inclusiveness in governance.

I , Ezema Chekwube S Peter, the author of this article is not writing as a partisan politician but as a neutral man who is a living witness of his giant strides in his two years as the administrator of Igbo Eze South LGA.

Some the talking points of his administration are highlighted as follows:

1. Zero Tolerance To Discrimination:
In the last two years, Peter Andy Omeje as the Mayor of Igbo Eze South LGA Enugu State, demonstrated a strong spirit of an inclusive government through his Zero Protocol policy.
He emphasized the true meaning of democracy by echoing the already existing mantra which states thus ” the government should be an affair of the people,by the people and for the people”.
In his government, youths and the old were all invited to join his administration with a sole aim of rebuilding Igbo Eze South and restoring it’s lost value.
Before his emergence as the Chairman, seldom do people especially of rural settings get informed of the activities of the government but before the end of his tenure, people are now fully aware of the happenings within the government of their locality.
This single act helped in sanitization and enlightenment of the larger society and fostered unity among the peace loving people of Igbo Eze South.

2. Capacity Building / Empowerment:
Under the administration of Honourable Peter Andy as the Administrator of Igbo Eze South, LGA, training and retraining were organized for staff of the LGA, and even youths in the area of skill acquisitions in order to reduce employment.
Market women too were not left behind as they were empowered with funds on several occasions in order to expand their businesses.

3. Youths Participation:
The achievements of Peter Andy Omeje in Igbo Eze South within a short period of two years will not be completed if youths are not mentioned. Under his stewardship 346 persons with 80% of them youths were engaged in different portfolios with prompt monthly payments. With these, unemployment were drastically reduced and the youths activeness in politics were made possible.

4. Prompt Payment of Staff salaries:
Before the coming on board of Honourable Peter Andy, payment of LGA salaries as at when due was a major challenge but his coming on board has changed the narrative as workers now receive salaries promptly.

5. Scholarship:
Other gestures such as payment of school fees of 20 university students from Igbo Eze South and securing of jamb forms for 250 indigent students from the same LGA are also hallmarks of Honourable Peter Andy achievement.

6. Infrastructural Developments.
The digital Mayor as he is fondly called scored the highest mark in infrastructural development as the following projects are the products of his visionary stewardship in Igbo Eze South.
Motorized Industrial Borehole powered with Mikano Sound-proof generator set at Ikolo, Ibagwa-Aka with overhead water tank and tower.
Modern toilet facility at the local government secretariat with overhead water tank

Motorized Industrial Borehole powered with Mikano sound-proof generator set at Alor-Agu with overhead water tank and tower.

Modern toilet facility at Nkwo Ibagwa-Aka with overhead water tank.

Total overhaul
(rehabilitation/renovation) and equiping of Ovoko Health Center to be commissioned soonest.

Modern toilet facility at Orie Igbo-Eze, Iheaka with overhead water tank

Construction of Health Center at Anyanwu-Anyasi, Ibagwa-Aka.

Modern toilet facility at Afor Unadu with overhead water tank

On-going construction of Police Post at Orie Igbo-Eze in Iheaka.

Part renovation of Ibagwa-Aka Health Center.

Offsetting of remaining bill for completion and energizing of Uzoego Ibagwa-Aka electricity transformer.

Extension of electricity to Unadu community.

Offsetting the bill for repair of Eburummiri borehole

Procurement of 500KVA transformer in Ibagwa-Aka town solving a four-year electricity problem.

And finally upgrading of some major roads in Igbo Eze South LGA.

It is worthy of note that many uncompleted projects are not mentioned here and that’s justifies his quest for our unalloyed support for his second tenure so that he will complete the good works in his hands.

On a final note, as a seasoned politicians and an unbiased analyst from Igbo Eze South, I am yet to see where so much were achieved by a sitting LGA chairman in just few period of two years.
I therefore recommend to the remaining “773” LGA’s in Nigeria to borrow a leaf from Comrade Peter Andy and duplicate his visionary leadership in their area to make Nigeria great Again.
